Traveling reporter

As a roving reporter for The Autocar, Crosby literally stood ankle-deep in mud beside the world’s most legendary racing circuits. Together with his colleague Sammy Davis, a star reporter and Le Mans winner, he witnessed historic firsts such as the inaugural 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1923. Since early cameras were unable to capture speed or take photographs in pitch darkness, Crosby was the only one able to convey the atmosphere of the race and its nighttime pit stops to the outside world through his charcoal drawings.
