Adler Motorwagen

Adler Motorwagen

ca 1900

Onbekend

Adler was a German brand of bicycles and typewriters since 1886, as well as automobiles from 1899 onwards and motorcycles from 1901 onwards. The Adler Fahrradwerke company was founded by Heinrich Kleyer (1853 - 1932), an entrepreneur and pioneer. At the 1900 Automobile Fair in Frankfurt, Kleyer presented the first Adler Motorcar and changed the company’s name to Adlerwerke. A few years later there were more than twenty different Adler models to choose from. This rather dramatic poster depicts the transition from horse drawn vehicles to early automobiles. The almost godlike figure is holding a lightning bolt and breathing black smoke, whilst seemingly punching the automobile into motion. The automobile has travelled a long and powerful path in its creation and Adler Fahrradwerke is clearly positioning itself as a powerful, driving force behind this development. Kunst-Anst.
