Unic automobiles

Automobiles Unic

Lithograph on paper Henry Le Monnier, born in Paris, studied at the Ecole Pilon and the School of Fine Arts in Paris. As a poster artist he worked for various printing houses; Lutecia (1923-1932), Joseph Charles (1934–1943) and Gaillard (1934–1954). In addition, he also worked as an illustrator. Le Monniers skill as a lithographer can be seen in the various brands he promoted, from Perrier water to Automobiles Unic and La Savon Soprosoie. His numerous Art Deco works show a sense of humor and a keen eye for detail. A centaur was the mascot of Unic Automobiles, founded in 1905 by Georges Richard in Puteaux, France. In Greek mythology a centaur is half human and half horse and known for its untamable and wild nature. The imagery of the centaur echoes the streamlined and sexy Unic automobiles that shoot down the road like an arrow. Printing house Lutetia, 53 Rue Rochechouart, Paris Creation July 1925
