Bignan
1921
Joë Bridge was a French Art Deco artist, lyricist and actor famous for his posters and cartoons. He was born in New York and was a law graduate and literature graduate. Bridge created his own advertising workshop in 1922 and worked for many brands such as Félix Potin chocolates and Gauloises cigarettes. Bridge is known to have also signed his work as Jean Barrez or Jean Louis Charles Joseph Barrez. Établissements Industriels J. Bignan was founded by Jacques Bignan and manufactured automobiles between 1918 and 1931 on the north side of central Paris, in Courbevoie. Bridge has humorously given the Bignan automobile wings (“a des ailes”) by placing the automobile on the back of a silver heron. The heron is in fact incorporated in the insignia of the Bignan brand.
