Cycles and Cars Turenne

Cycles et Autos Turenne

Lithograph on paper E. Celos was a painter and illustrator. He designed several posters for automobiles and bicycles around the turn of the century. Celos often added Art Nouveau elements to his designs and his work had a cartoonlike charm. The automobile is a modern means of transport that takes you to places in nature where you would otherwise never go. The girl and her somewhat irritated geese look on in amazement at this new invasion of their countryside. Turenne is located in the south of France, and the poster clearly aims to promote the freedom that an automobile brings.
