With the birth of the automobile came the birth of speed and the world had to adjust to this new thrilling phenomenon. Daily life would gradually change forever and there was a rapidly growing need to create a code of conduct for the road that was getting busier and busier. This unknown artist is warning automobile drivers that they must be considerate of their own safety. In other words “When you approach a Railroad Crossing Stop, Look and Listen”. A man is frantically waving to the driver to warn him that the train is too close to cut off however fast the automobile is. The safety sign alongside the road clearly states: “More than 1500 human beings killed. Twice that many seriously injured on Railroad Crossings each year. …. Do not be the next victim. STOP-LOOK-LISTEN”.
