Targa Florio 1932 - a unique atmosphere
This colorful painting shows the start finish zone of the 1932 Targa Florio, with the pits visible on the right. Tazio Nuvolari won the race in an Alfa Romeo 2300 Monza in 7 hours 15 minutes and 50.6 seconds. Baconin Borzacchini finished second in another Monza. Louis Chiron and Achille Varzi, who shared a Bugatti, took third place. Among the entrants were five Alfa Romeos, five Bugattis, two Maseratis, two Fiats and an O.M., of which in the end only 6 cars reached the finish line. Alfa Romeo has every reason to look back with great pride on the Targa Florio race in Sicily, as they won the event no fewer than nine times: in 1923, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1935, 1950 and 1971.
