Etching on paper Louis Justin Laurent Icart was a prolific French painter, graphic artist and illustrator. His inspiration came mainly from the French masters of the eighteenth century. Here we can think of, among others, Jean-Honore Fragonard, Edgar Degas and Claude Monet. In his work he studied life in Paris and New York in the 1920s and 1930s. This image was created to be used as a lampshade, hence the unusual shape of the artwork. The use of the dominant color red is characteristic of his art.
