Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/sc/12

Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/sc/12

Since its last race in 1977, this Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/SC/12 has remained virtually untouched. Almost all of the original parts are still present, as are the original yellow and black colors of sponsor Fernet Tonic.

The car is equipped with a twelve cylinder boxer engine and is the first of four Tipo 33s that, instead of the tubular chassis used up to then, has a self supporting body, "Scatolato" in Italian. Hence the letters SC in the type designation. The twelve cylinders, built from 1973 to 1977, form the last generation of the Tipo 33 and are highly successful. In both 1975 and 1977 the Tipo 33 wins the World Sportscar Championship. A worthy farewell for a legendary racing car, after which Alfa Romeo turns its focus to Formula 1.
