Step into the history of Goodwood

In West Sussex lies the renowned Goodwood House: an estate with its own circuit, airfield, horse racing track and the Rolls Royce factory. The circuit was closed in 1966 because it could no longer meet modern standards. In 1972, during a test drive, the circuit claimed the life of Bruce McLaren, the founder of McLaren Cars. From 1993, the Duke of Richmond and Gordon decided to bring British racing history back to Goodwood. Not on the circuit, but as a so called hill climb past Goodwood House. The event was christened the Festival of Speed: "the worlds greatest celebration of motorsport and car culture". It proved to be a tremendous success; every edition is sold out well in advance, despite the 150,000 tickets!

The Louwman Museum & Goodwood
Unique examples in action during the Festival of Speed The most beautiful and most exceptional historic racing cars in the world can be seen, heard and smelled during the Festival of Speed. Over the years the Louwman Museum has been a regular guest. Almost every year cars are prepared for racing for the 1.16 mile sprint uphill between straw bales and past Goodwood House. But there is more to see at Goodwood, such as the soapbox competition and a Motor Show where new cars are presented. There are air shows by the Red Arrows team of the RAF, exhibitions of car related art, a Concours dElegance and a supercar paddock. And in the woods of the estate rally cannons give demonstrations. In short: truly a must see!
