Mclaren at the Louwman Museum

7 July - 27 August 2017

Ayrton Senna

The exhibition featured a total of sixteen cars from private collections, various museums, McLaren Automotive in Woking (UK) and Louwman Exclusive. On display were, among others, the 1990 McLaren MP4-5B with which Ayrton Senna became world champion. But the legendary 1996 McLaren BMW F1 GTR Le Mans of Marc Duez, Jacques Lafitte and Steve Soper and the McLaren M8F Can-Am winner of Peter Revson from 1971 were also part of the collection. Naturally, the championship-winning cars of Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton were not missing. Fans of cars with a roof were also well served: the P1 GTR, a 12C Spider MSO 50th Edition and a 675LT Spider were likewise part of the exhibition. For the Dutch public, the brand-new McLaren 720S made its debut during the exhibition.

Successes

According to Ronald Kooyman, director of the Louwman Museum, the exhibition gave a fine impression of the brand: "McLaren has a magnificent history that we present to the general public through a remarkable collection of cars. There are unique cars on display that have rarely or never been exhibited before."
