Exhibition Supercars of the 90s

From 5 July to 1 September 2024 you can see the coolest, most extreme and fastest 90s supercars at the Louwman Museum.

It is going to be a hot summer for sports car enthusiasts. From 5 July to 1 September 2024, the Louwman Museum will be all about Supercars from the 90s. The Louwman Museum has succeeded in bringing together an impressive collection of super sports cars. Several models have never before been shown on Dutch soil, and a few of them rarely see the light of day.

It is the task of the Louwman Museum to share all facets and periods of automotive evolution with the public. Just last year the focus was on the cyclecars from the beginning of the previous century. This time the time machine is set to the 1990s. We highlight the supercars from that era, because in that decade there seemed to be a real craze surrounding high performance sports cars. The foundations for this were already laid in the 1980s. New brands emerged. Many launches were scheduled especially for the early 1990s. It was a financial crisis around 1992/93 that made wealthy car enthusiasts more cautious, causing supercar orders to collapse and new sports car brands to go bankrupt or have their projects terminated prematurely.

Yet numerous interesting and impressive super sports cars appeared in the 1990s. The Louwman Museum managed to bring together a unique collection. For this purpose, the term supercar has been defined as a limited production volume, at least 500 hp and a top speed of well over 300 km/h. Within that definition, a wide variety of models can be admired, divided into different categories: production models, limited editions, homologation cars and prototypes. Some models have never been shown in the Netherlands before, not even in the Benelux. And the group of sports cars as such has never been seen before in its entirety in the Netherlands. Not in the Benelux, and not even in Europe. Perhaps not even in the world...
