Goodwood Festival of Speed 2016

September 2, 2015

As every year, the Louwman Museum also took part in the Goodwood Festival of Speed in southern England in 2016.

This time, partly in pouring rain, two race cars from the collection were driven: the 1953 Ferrari 375 Indianapolis and the 2013 Toyota Camry NASCAR racer.

On the website of the Goodwood Festival of Speed, spectators are advised each year to dress for changeable weather conditions. Those who brought rubber boots instead of fashionable walking shoes did not make the wrong choice. But even in sometimes miserable conditions (for both drivers and spectators), the program simply went ahead, although the drivers had to be a bit more cautious on the extremely slippery asphalt.

On the hill climb past Lord Marchs stately home, timed runs and demonstration runs are held in various classes.

There is also plenty to experience off the track, such as a Concours dElegance, time trials on a rally course, demonstrations with off road vehicles, and showrooms from contemporary car manufacturers.

Three days of world class car spectacle.
