About the artist
Charles Loupot was one of France’s foremost poster designers and painters. He experimented with typography and aerography (a precursor to airbrushing), but worked primarily in lithographic art.
From 1911 to 1913, Loupot studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon, and after serving in the First World War, he returned in 1917 to Lausanne, where he had spent his youth. There, he shifted his focus from painting to poster design. In 1923, he returned to his native France, where he created designs for the Devambez printing house.
