
Charley Martin (1913-1998)-karikatuur
Charlie Martin mainly raced at Brooklands and Le Mans in the period 1932-1937. In 1935 he finished 3rd in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in an Aston Martin. He took part in the inaugural Hungarian Grand Prix in 1936 with an Alfa Romeo. In addition, he mostly drove cars of the MG and Bugatti makes. Later he became Vice President of the Brooklands Society. This series of caricatures was created by Frederick Gordon Crosby in 1935. The drivers depicted were famous among British motorsport enthusiasts at the time, especially because of their performances on the Brooklands banked circuit and at major events on the continent.
