Cyril Paul raced between 1928 and 1937 with various makes of cars, such as Riley, Alvis and MG. He was mainly active at the Brooklands circuit, but also in Belfast and at Le Mans. This series of caricatures was created by Frederick Gordon Crosby in 1935. The depicted drivers were famous at the time among British motorsport enthusiasts, especially because of their performances on the Brooklands banked track and at major events on the continent.
