Lithograph on paper This is one of the first posters ever made for a pedal powered means of transport by an unknown artist. Here we see a decorative depiction of a Royal Salvo tricycle model produced by E. Vincent Neveu. The illustration is almost photographic in the accuracy of its rendering and offers a glimpse into the early days of cycling. The E. Vincent Neveu factories were located at Rue Lafayette 219 in Paris. The Royal Salvo tricycle was based on the 1881 Salvo Squad by James Starley. The shape and components were even similar. The Royal addition to the Salvo name can be traced back to Queen Victoria, who ordered two Salvo tricycles for herself. The Salvo Quad or Royal Quad was the most popular tricycle at the end of the 19th century. Printer E.V. Camis, 58, Rue St. Sabin Paris
