Gordon Bennett race 1903

The Gordon Bennett race was organized from 1900 onward by James Gordon Bennett, the owner of the American newspaper. On 1 July 1903 the race was held in Ireland over a total distance of about 551 miles. Crosby's illustration shows Camille Jenatzy, the eventual winner in his 60 hp Mercedes, giving the driver of the Panhard & Levassor a few perilous moments.
