Isotta-Fraschini 8A in full flight
Here Crosby portrays one of Italys top automobiles, an Isotta Fraschini open tourer from the early 1930s - probably an inline 8 cylinder, 7.3 liter, 120 hp Tipo 8A. Business partners Cesare Isotta and Vincenzo Fraschini initially started in 1899 by importing French cars into Italy. But they soon began building their own cars. The first true Isotta Fraschini appeared in 1903. Production numbers were low. Fewer than 1,000 examples of the 8A were built. The factory in Milan finally closed in 1949.
