
Lithograph on paper Jules-Abel Faivre was a French painter, illustrator and cartoonist. He was also known for his pastel works. Faivre studied at the Ecole Nationale des Beaux-Arts de Lyon, the Societe Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Academie Julian. Faivre created this poster on commission from the Automobile Club of France in Paris. A young lady with an ermine stole is taken on a winter drive to the 1904 exhibition of the Automobile Club de France. Behind her the Grand Palais can be seen and her dog looks on expectantly from the dashboard. The Automobile Club of France (ACF), a gentlemen's society, was founded on 12 November 1895 by Albert de Dion, Paul Meyan and the Dutchman Etienne van Zuylen van Nyevelt.
