Lady in a Spare Tyre

Lady in a Spare Tyre

Lady in a spare tyre is a painting by an unknown artist that has its roots in Pin-up art. We see a Pin-up girl curled into a spare tyre on the back of an automobile. She is a Brunette, dressed in a red revealing dress that showcases her long stockinged legs with a clearly visible garter. Little attention is given to the automobile itself and the entire focus of the painting rests on the attractive and rather erotic lady. Pin-up models were models that had a wide appeal within the popular culture of society and were often glamour models, actresses or fashion models. The world’s first pin- ups in the modern sense were seen in Europe, prior to the First World War. Their name is derived from the fact that their images in magazines, newspapers, postcards, lithographs, and calendars were literally pinned onto a wall.
