
Lady Motorist
Oil on canvas Warren Burnham Davis, an illustrator and visual artist, was known for his graceful and poetic portraits of women. Davis won the coveted Innes Award in 1905 and received multiple honors throughout his career. The fashionable but impractical hat, scarf, and veil were characteristic garments worn by ladies before the windshield became common. This portrait was both produced and copyrighted in 1908 by Warren B. Davis.
