Lithograph on paper In this work Georges Gaudy suggests that Camille 'Red Devil' Jenatzy is driving on Jenatzy tyres (pneus) during the Gordon Bennet Race in 1903, but in reality Jenatzy won his land speed record on Continental Tyres. Gaudy was a magazine illustrator, poster artist, etcher and decorator. He was also a member of the Societe des Aquafortistes Belges and the Cercle Artistique et Litteraire de Bruxelles. He was an experienced cyclist and racing driver who was able to capture speed and movement accurately in his work. Gaudy was also highly philosophical and once said that "modern speed has changed our traditional perception of time." The lithograph was printed in Brussels and Lille by J.E. Goossens.
