The Lady in Red

James Irwin Billmyer and Charlotte Post Billmyer were both painters who clearly worked together. Unfortunately, auction records only attribute their artworks to James Irwin Billmyer and not to Charlotte Post Billmeyer. Female artists in the past were often not recognized for their contribution to the art world as it was considered a male domain. The lady in red catches the eye immediately as she stands in her automobile to observe a traffic altercation involving a male driver. There are quite a few onlookers and the police are already at hand. Noteworthy is the fact that we only really see the face of the driver, the perpetrator. Whereas everyone else we only really see from the back with the exception of a few onlookers, such as the lady in red, where we see their side profiles. It is almost as if everyone in the lithography is pointing to the culprit.
