Lithograph on paper Georges Gabriel Picard was a painter, illustrator and decorative artist. He studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts and later became a member of the Commission Administrative des Beaux-Arts. He was also appointed Knight of the Legion of Honor in 1904. Picards work was appreciated for its harmony of color and vitality of line; he liked to paint in oil and pastel and had a preference for paintings of children, flowers, orchards and figures. On commission, Picard created murals for the Casino of Monte Carlo, the French Embassy in Vienna, the Petit-Palais in Paris and the Hotel de Ville in Paris. The original artwork for this lithograph is an oil on canvas painting by Picard called Vive lAuto. It is not only a tribute to the modern automobile but certainly also to the modern woman. Printer J.
