Thanks to an ingenious design, the bodywork of this Georges Roy 12-HP Touring Sport Torpedo can be converted from a two-seater into a four-seater and back again in no time. The rear seat can be folded completely forward, after which the rear hood supports are attached to the front mounting points, thus creating a two-seater. The coachwork is by Georges Roy himself, something that was very unusual at the time. Coachwork was usually built by specialists, while car manufacturers concerned themselves only with the engineering and the chassis. Remarkable is the round radiator, which was used by only a few car brands, including Spyker and Delaunay-Belleville. Georges Roy is a garage owner in Bordeaux who started building cars in 1906. His models, however, are fairly conventional. In southwestern France and in the French colonies in South America he enjoyed reasonable success. A Georges Roy is extremely rare.
