It looks like a tricycle, but the two rear wheels of this Peugeot VLV are very close together; the track width is only 33.5 centimeters. The rear wheels share a single brake. The total length of the vehicle is 2.67 meters. During the Second World War the electrically powered VLV (Voiture Legere de Ville – light city car) was manufactured by Peugeot under the supervision of the Germans, because they needed the fossil fuels for themselves. City traffic had to choose other methods of propulsion. Between 1941 and 1945 Peugeot built 377 VLVs, several of which were used by the postal service. The range was 80 kilometers, with a top speed of 30 km/h. Four 12 volt batteries, mounted at the front, provided the power.
