Araun Gordijn - Vrooom with a view from 11 April through 30 May

March 24, 2026

From 11 April to 30 May, the Louwman Museum is presenting the exhibition Vrooom with a view, featuring work by Araun Gordijn. It is a logical collaboration, given the strong connection between his oeuvre and the world of the automobile.

The exhibition opens on Saturday 11 April, World Parkinsons Day. A meaningful moment, as Gordijn has been living with this disease for ten years, yet continues to work and create.

The exhibition presents paintings and photographs from his lifes work. Gordijn is known for his tranquil, cinematic images of, among other things, American landscapes, cars and gas stations. Much of his work is car related art and therefore fits seamlessly with the collection of the Louwman Museum. Since its opening, works by Gordijn have already been part of the museum collection.

His work has its origins in observations made during his travels through the United States. Gordijn translates these impressions into carefully constructed compositions in which space, silence, and detail take center stage. Expansive roads, deserted places, and everyday scenes thus acquire a timeless character, with the car as a recurring element.

As part of the exhibition, the documentary "Araun Gordijns Journey to the Moon" is also on view, offering a glimpse into his life, his illness, and his work.

With Vrooom with a view, the Louwman Museum once again underscores the relationship between art and automobiles and offers visitors a special look at an artist who has been bringing together motion, stillness, and imagination for decades.
