February 24, 2025

The Jaguar C-Type is a groundbreaking racing car from the 1950s, built for speed and competition. This example finished in the top ten at Le Mans 1953, the most successful year for Jaguar. Now on display at the LouwmanMuseum, on loan from The Loh Collection.

The Jaguar C-Type (officially Jaguar XK120-C) was built by Jaguar from 1951 to 1953. The C stands for competition. The car combined the chassis of the already proven XK120 with a lightweight tubular frame and an aerodynamic aluminum body. A total of 53 C-Types were built. This is one of the most original surviving sports cars for 24-hour races from the 1950s.

This example is much more than just a Le Mans entrant. The car finished in the overall top ten and achieved this feat in 1953, the best Le Mans year for the Jaguar C-type, when the entered works cars finished first, second, fourth and ninth overall.
