McLaren world champion - the legacy of Bruce McLaren

October 8, 2025

It is official: McLaren are the new Formula 1 constructors world champions. The team clinches the title in 2025 and once again proves that the vision of founder Bruce McLaren is still very much alive.

Bruce McLaren was not only a fast driver, but also an innovator who wanted to build his own team. His drive for progress led in the 1960s to the legendary M8 series in the Can-Am races. There, McLaren dominated together with teammate Denny Hulme, with 31 victories in four seasons.

In the Louwman Museum stands the ultimate version of that series: the McLaren Can-Am M8F. With its brutal 8.1-liter Chevrolet V8 producing nearly 750 hp and its sharp aerodynamic lines, it is a tangible icon of Bruce McLarens legacy.

The current world championship underlines how his pioneering spirit and technical daring still form the foundation of McLarens success.
