Dexter Brown, also known as De Bruyne, is a British painter trained at the Harrow School of Art. He has two ‘painting personas’: firstly De Bruyne, an impressionist painter (mainly known in America) who limits himself to the golden age of motor racing up to the Second World War. Secondly, Dexter Brown, the almost photographic to abstract artist (mainly known in England) who focuses on the early days of motor racing up to the present day. As an artist, he is known for his paintings of celebrities and racing cars, with commissions from companies such as Ferrari, Mercedes Benz, Rolls-Royce and British Leyland. Brown’s depiction of a Ferrari 512M, driven by Corrado Manfredini (1931 - ) and Giancarlo Gagliardi (1943 - ), racing at high speed during Le Mans in 1971, is a perfect example of Brown’s dynamic art.
