Cottereau & Cie Dijon

Lithograph on paper Jack Abeille was a prolific painter, poster artist, draughtsman, caricaturist and illustrator. As an illustrator he contributed to various magazines and periodicals, including La Caricature, La Chronique Amusante and Parisiana. He was art director of the magazine Fin de Siecle and later editor of Elegances. Abeille exhibited at the Salon de Humoristes and was also known for his erotic illustrations. This poster highlights both an automobile and a bicycle made by Cottereau & Cie, the company of French cyclist Louis Cottereau. Both vehicle options are promoted here on equal footing: the bicycle as a means of transport for an active solo rider, and an open-air sedan that is perfect for a family outing. Printer G.
