He is known as one of the pioneers of Belgian poster art and he collaborated with the best known printers of Paris, Devambez, Chaix, Vercasson, Cerf and Lemercier. Here Fernel shows a sporty couple on bicycles as they greet a more formally dressed couple in an automobile. Both vehicles were made by Ateliers et Usines Cottereau et Cie in Dijon, France. Cottereau was briefly active from 1898 to 1910 and was known for its sturdy bicycles and early automobiles. Illustrated posters CERF, 45 Rue de Belleville, Paris Lithographer A Gallice
