Tim Rose-Richards was a sports car driver who took part five times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where he finished third three years in a row from 1931 to 1933. He also raced Bugattis in various Grand Prix events. In 1935 he competed in the Eifel Grand Prix for the ERA works team. This series of caricatures was created by Frederick Gordon Crosby in 1935. The drivers depicted were famous at the time among British motor racing enthusiasts, especially for their performances on the Brooklands banked circuit and at major events on the continent.
