R. Bohaner, an artist little is known about, has created an idyllic oleograph for the Valentine Blatz Brewing Company of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. An oleograph or chromolithograph, is a form of lithography that incorporates a large colour palette, and is printed on canvas and so imitates an oil painting. This process that is used for the production of high quality art and commercial prints. In the oleograph we see a merry group of motorists enjoying Blatz Beer refreshments during their tour. The Valentin Blatz Brewing Company was an American founded by Valentin Blatz. It produced Blatz beer from 1851 - 1959, when the label was sold to Pabst Brewing Company. Blatz Beer is still being produced to this day by the Miller Brewing Company. Interestingly, Bohaner choose a Peerless- inspired automobile for a Blatz commercial print. The Peerless Motor corporation was an automobile manufacturer founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1900. In 1931 the company was transformed into a brewery and began producing Carling Black Label beer. What a coincidence!
