Aston Martin Nimrod
1982
This car is the result of a collaboration between Aston Martin enthusiast and dealer Robin Hamilton and the chairman of the Aston Martin Lagonda factory, Victor Gauntlett.
In 1981 they form Nimrod Racing Automobiles, from which this racer intended for Group C originates. The chassis is by Lola and the 5.3 liter eight cylinder engine is prepared by tuning company Tickford, at that time part of Aston Martin Lagonda. Five Nimrods are built, one of which is an experimental model. The other four are raced intensively, but major results fail to materialize because of the unreliable engine and because the car is too heavy and therefore too slow. At Le Mans in 1982 a Nimrod finishes in seventh place. In 1984 two Nimrods crash, again at Le Mans. A track marshal is killed in the accident. Nimrod Racing Automobiles had already run into financial trouble in 1983 and went bankrupt the following year.
