MG TC Police Car
At the end of 1945 MG announced the successor to the prewar MG TB. The TC delivered similar performance but had a wider body and improved suspension with hydraulic dampers.
The American fondness for British sports cars arose mainly thanks to the MG TC. Many of the 10,000 examples built up to the end of 1949 were sold to customers in the United States. This TC has a special history. On 17 July 1947 the car was purchased by the Kent County police force, where it was used by the traffic police. MG police vehicles at that time were fitted with a heavier electrical system, with an extra large dynamo (hence the bulge on the left side of the bonnet) and modified gear ratios in the transmission, which allowed a higher top speed.
