Lincoln Model L Sedan

Lincoln Model L Sedan

The grille, bumpers and lights on this Lincoln L are still nickel plated. Chrome was gaining ground around that time, but was not yet used very often.

The bumpers – which have a distinctive shape – come as standard on this luxurious car, something that was not common in those days. The bodywork is by Judkins and features a distinguished yet, for its time, fashionable color scheme. Because of its luxury and excellent quality, this Lincoln model was popular with gangsters. The American automotive engineer Henry M. Leland was one of the founders of Cadillac in 1902. A few years later he sold Cadillac to General Motors and in 1917 founded another prestigious brand: Lincoln. Due in part to the recession after the First World War, Lincoln went bankrupt after only a few years. Henry Ford bought the company in 1922, and to this day Lincoln is the luxury division of the Ford Motor Company.
