Benz Prince Heinrich

Benz Prince Heinrich

This Benz, with its 80 hp 5.7 liter engine, was therefore used in 1910 for the Prinz Heinrich Fahrt, named after the brother of the German emperor Wilhelm II.

Officially this is a touring car, but nothing could be further from the truth. Note the 'little eggs' at the front, actually streamlined covers for the headlights. The disc wheels and the angle iron on the front axle were also added to give the car better aerodynamics. The car is also equipped with modern technology such as oil pumps and cardan drive. The 'Prinz Heinrich Fahrt' is a race for touring cars: production cars with four seats. In addition to the driver and co driver, an observer from the organizing body, the Kaiserliche Automobil Club, rides along. The six day run of almost 2,000 kilometers leads through Germany and France. The Benz present here finishes fifth. The run is won by Ferdinand Porsche in an Austro Daimler.
