This 'boat on wheels' definitely cannot sail. It could be seen as a car in the shape of a boat. Coachbuilder Coriasco from Turin built this striking vehicle, the Fiat 1100 Boat-Car Carrozzeria Coriasco, in the early 1950s on the basis of a Fiat 1100 to serve as a publicity object for a sailing school in Bologna, the Scuola Nautica Scarani. Coriasco equipped the car with all kinds of nautical features such as portholes, lifebuoys and a varnished wooden deck, while the fenders act as the 'water' that the boat is cutting through. Since the 1920s Coriasco had been building bodies on chassis from, among others, Fiat, Ceirano and Itala. After that the company focused mainly on light trucks and delivery vans. In the 1970s it returned to passenger cars, including station wagon versions of the Fiat 127.
