There are libraries full of books written about this one type of car. Some even describe the Ford Model T Touring Car, also known as the T Ford, as the car of the twentieth century. From 1908 to 1927 more than fifteen million T Fords are built, thanks to the fact that from 1913 onward it is the first car in the world to be produced on an assembly line. According to its maker Henry Ford, the T Ford is available in any color, as long as it is black. This has to do with the drying of the paint; black dries the fastest and therefore reduces production time and costs. A well known nickname for the T Ford is Tin Lizzy. This Model T touring car with button tufted upholstery is still an early type with a brass radiator and lamps. The Ford is fitted with various accessories that were then available to order, such as special suspension and matching brakes. In addition, this example has, besides the usual two speed gearbox, a high and a low gearing, a kind of off road gear that can be engaged with a separate lever. So there are now four forward gears plus one reverse.
