Lagonda Lancefield Coupé
Elegant yet very robust coupe based on the Lagonda V12.
Graceful yet very robust coupe based on the Lagonda V12, intended to make a bid for victory at Le Mans in 1940. After taking third place in 1939 with the team car that had been developed in a very short time, Lagonda wanted to be better prepared the following year. This time they opted for streamlined coupes. Commissioned by Lagonda, the London coachbuilder Lancefield produced two sporty yet elegant coupes, which were mounted on the V12 chassis. The cars would never see Le Mans, because with the outbreak of the Second World War no race was held in 1940. One of the two Lancefield-Lagondas later crashed during a record attempt on the Bonneville Salt Flats in America, making the example in the museum the last one remaining.
