Mazda 737c
1985
This Mazda 737C, equipped with a twin rotor Wankel engine, took third place in its class at the Le Mans circuit in 1985.
One of the four Mazdas 727C with rotary engine that competed in Group C2 at Le Mans in 1984 takes the class victory, while a second 727C finishes in third place. An important victory in several respects. First, it involves special engine technology, and second, it is the first victory for a Japanese brand at Le Mans. The following year Mazda fields two new cars of the 737C type, equipped with twin rotor rotary engines with a displacement of 2 x 650 cm3. Responsible for developing the engine is Mazdas in house tuner Mazdaspeed. Car no. 86, which is present in the museum, takes third place in its class that year and 19th overall. In the 1986 season the Mazda 737C is succeeded by the 757, this time with a three rotor rotary engine.
