Art Deco on wheels. A very daring creation by Panhard et Levassor. Many cars from that era show elements of the then popular Art Deco art movement, but in this Panhard et Levassor X77 Dynamic it has been taken almost to the extreme. Look at the aerodynamic, enclosed fenders, which are set wide apart so the wheels can steer. Also note the headlamp grilles in the same shape as the radiator grille, the three windscreen wipers and the Panoramique windscreen with its curved side windows. It is also striking that the driver sits almost in the middle of the car. This allows him to make optimal use of the panoramic windows. To his right there is room for a slender person, to his left for someone a bit larger. The Dynamic is an attempt by Panhard et Levassor to uphold its reputation in a market that is deteriorating due to the economic crisis. Once highly progressive, the brand has now fallen behind. This design by Bionnier marks a break with the older, more conservative models. The X77 Dynamic is equipped with a 2.8 liter six cylinder sleeve valve engine. The type was produced from 1936 to 1939 and around 3,000 units were built. In the last models the steering wheel was once again mounted on the left to make the car a bit more attractive, but in vain.
