This coupe based on a Talbot Lago T26 Grand Sport was designed by the Parisian coachbuilder Henri Chapron, who would later gain fame with his convertible versions of the Citroen DS. He is known for using chrome to emphasize a cars lines, which was fashionable at the time. Chapron also gives the car a sense of speed by opting for very rounded shapes and an exceptionally long, low rear end. The car is presented at the 1949 Paris Motor Show. The Talbot Lago Grand Sport is based on a Grand Prix model and is therefore one of the fastest cars of its time: equipped with a 4.5 liter six cylinder engine producing 190 hp, it reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. Only around thirty cars of this type are produced between 1948 and 1953, and almost all of them are fitted with a specially designed body.
