Lithograph on paper Two women in grey dresses with flowing white shawls observe from the height of the Saint-Pierre church in Caen two airplanes (including a Farman) and a hot air balloon in the orange-yellow glow of a sunset above the Abbaye-aux-Hommes. The Caen Aviation Society (1909–1910), at Rue de Bernieres 10 in Caen, had just been founded to organize this tournament. One can experience a sense of freedom in this poster. Through the depiction of the freedom to fly as high as a bird and float through the air. This feeling is reflected in the wind that howls through the ladies shawls high in the church tower and in the bird that flies along with the airplanes. Lithographer CH Valin, Caen
