Voiture Clément–Panhard

Voiture Clément–Panhard

Lithograph on paper “Misti”, the pseudonym of Ferdinand Mifliez, was trained as an industrial designer and in 1890 he started working as a lithographer at Cheret’s Chaix printing house. Works by Misti were often shown at the Salon des Artistes Français. Considered one of the finest artists of his time, Misti was best known for his explicit and direct style. His powerful use of line and colour and his aversion to superfluous ornamentation inspired many young artists. This is the third poster of a cinematic triptych. In this poster we see a tense policeman now trying to keep a curious crowd at a distance from the Clément-Panhard automobile that so easily conquered the steep hill (“Voiture Clément – Panhard”). Printed by R. Carvin, 42, R.S. Merri, Paris
