Regal Model Nc Colonial Coupe

This car is, as it were, suspended from the axles. That lowers the center of gravity, which improves road holding and cornering behavior. This is called the 'underslung' technique.

On this car the axles are mounted above the chassis. That lowers the center of gravity, which improves road holding and cornering behavior. This is called the underslung technique. It not only makes the character of the car sportier, but also its appearance. Yet this touring car has a rather conservative body. To emphasize the idea of a carriage, the (finely cut) windows are divided and the interior is fitted with curtains. The first fifty cars produced by the Regal Motor Co. of Detroit are recalled in 1908, a year after production, as a marketing stunt and exchanged free of charge for the new model. Regal is a very successful brand and in the short period of its existence the company builds an excellent reputation. In particular the endurance tests, which the cars pass without any mechanical problems, generate a great deal of positive publicity. Due to material shortages caused by the First World War, the factory has to cease operations in 1920.
