Tamplin Cycle-car

This is one of the few remaining Tamplins, a car brand from Staines in England.

This is one of the few surviving Tamplins, a car brand from Staines in England. With its narrow wheels, straight mudguards and two seats arranged one behind the other, this truly deserves to be called a cyclecar. It is a design by the English captain Sir John Carden, who had already built a car in 1913 but had sold the rights to it. This concept has a 1,000 cc V twin JAP engine at the front, a body made of reinforced plywood, belt drive and a rather weak independent front suspension. In 1919 Carden also sells the production rights to this car, namely to one of his dealers, E.A. Tamplin, who immediately links his name to the car. The Tamplin remains in production until 1925. Reportedly, Tamplins were still being built to order until 1927.
