Step into the history of moviestars cars

At the Louwman Museum you will find many original cars from movies. For example, the Lincoln Continental and the Desoto taxi from The Godfather, the Spyker Double Phaeton and the Darracq 12-HP that race each other in Genevieve, and the absolute highlight: the Aston Martin DB5 in which Sean Connery made his name as James Bond. Come and see them all!

James Bonds Aston Martin DB5
Of course, nothing beats the original in which Sean Connery, as secret agent James Bond, completed his missions. This DB5 had, for its time, the ultimate technical gadgets, such as Browning machine guns hidden behind the front indicators, hydraulically extendable bumpers for use as a battering ram, a rotating license plate with British, Swiss and French registrations, a smoke generator to create a smoke screen, an extendable bulletproof shield to cover the rear window, possibly the very first navigation/radar system to track cars, and of course the ejector seat to get rid of unwanted passengers.

Lincoln Continental Coupe of Sonny Corleone
This is the Lincoln Continental V12 of 'Sonny' Corleone, eldest son of Don Vito Corleone, in the film The Godfather (1972). Among the most chilling and memorable scenes ever produced by the film industry is certainly the one from The Godfather (1972) in which Santino 'Sonny' Corleone, the eldest son of Don Vito Corleone, walks into an ambush at an old toll booth and is riddled with machine gun bullets as he stands in front of his car.

Darracq 12-HP from Genevieve
This is the car that gave its name and is therefore the real leading lady of the 1953 film 'Genevieve', which is set against the backdrop of the London to Brighton Run. Originally this car was called 'Annie', but the director renamed it 'Genevieve', after the patron saint of Paris, the city where the car was built. The film became a great success and in 1953 Genevieve also took part in the 'real' London to Brighton Run amid enormous public interest, with Dutch rally driver Maurice Gatsonides behind the wheel.

Spyker 12/16HP Double Phaeton from Genevieve
This Spyker Double Phaeton, alongside the Darracq Genevieve, played the leading role in the film of the same name. Car enthusiast Claverhouse, played by actor Kenneth More, challenges his motoring friend Alan McKim (John Gregson) to a race during the annual London to Brighton Run, with McKims car at stake: a 1904 Darracq called Genevieve, which can be seen in the museum next to the Spyker. McKim accepts the challenge and, together with their wives Rosalind and Wendy (Kay Kendall and Dinah Sheridan), the men go head to head.

Desoto Series S-11C from The Godfather
This is not just a typical American yellow cab, but a real movie star. In 1972 this DeSoto taxi appears in Francis Ford Coppolas masterpiece The Godfather. Five years later the taxi makes another appearance in the film Thieves, in which Professor Irwin Corey plays the role of taxi driver. The yellow and red color scheme is from the city of San Francisco.
